sellmobilephones.com is a mobile phone recycling comparison service operated by Power Alt Net Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15139834) with its registered office at Belmont Suite, Paragon Business Park, Chorley New Road, Horwich, Bolton, BL6 6HG. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number ZB658429.

2. What our service does

We help you compare prices offered by third-party recycling companies ("recyclers") for your mobile phone or other device, and we let you complete your sale without leaving our site. When you place an order, we pass your order details to the recycler you have chosen. That recycler then receives, assesses and pays for your device, and handles your personal information as a separate data controller under its own privacy policy. We tell you who the recycler is before you place your order, and we recommend you read their privacy policy too.

4. How we use your information and our lawful bases

To provide the service — showing you quotes, placing your order with your chosen recycler, and keeping you updated on its progress. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
To pass your order to your chosen recycler — including your contact, device and payment details so they can receive, assess and pay for your device. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
To track referrals — recording which partner site referred you so we and our partners can account for commission. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
To run and improve the site — analytics, testing, security monitoring and fraud prevention. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (and consent for non-essential cookies).
To respond to you — handling enquiries and complaints. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
To send marketing — only where you have opted in; you can unsubscribe at any time. Lawful basis: consent.
To meet legal obligations — accounting, tax and responding to lawful requests from authorities. Lawful basis: legal obligation.

5. Who we share your information with

Your chosen recycler — the order details described above. They act as an independent data controller once they receive your order.
Partner sites — where you arrived via a price comparison or cashback site, we may confirm order completion (typically an order reference and value, not your full personal details) so your cashback or their commission can be tracked.
Service providers — hosting, email delivery, analytics and customer-support tools that process data on our instructions under contract.
Professional advisers and authorities — where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. International transfers

We aim to keep your information in the UK. Where a service provider processes data outside the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as a UK adequacy decision or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long we keep your information

Order records — up to 6 years after the transaction, to meet accounting and legal requirements.
Quotes that don't become orders — up to 12 months.
Marketing preferences — until you unsubscribe or after 2 years of inactivity.
Technical logs — typically up to 12 months.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; ask us to correct inaccurate information; ask us to delete your information; restrict or object to our processing (including direct marketing, which we will always stop on request); receive your information in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time where consent is our lawful basis.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies to make the site work (for example, remembering your quote as you move through checkout) and, with your consent, analytics cookies to understand how the site is used and referral cookies to attribute visits from partner sites. You can accept or reject non-essential cookies via the banner shown on your first visit, and change your choice at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer. 10. Security

We protect your information with technical and organisational measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and regular review of our systems. Payment details are transmitted securely to your chosen recycler and are not stored by us longer than necessary to complete your order.

11. Children

Our service is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention.
